Open Journals @ Queen's

Our Approach

At Queen's University Library, we believe in supporting fair, open and sustainable publishing models that enable timely dissemination of scholarship at reasonable costs.

Our Journal Hosting Service provides an immediate and efficient publication facility for Queen’s faculty and students who wish to publish an online journal, series or proceedings publication.

The Library will act as 'online distributor' for your journal, providing support for you and your editorial team in the set-up and ongoing maintenance of your publication, hosted on our publishing platform Open Journal Systems (OJS).

See our A-Z Current Titles.

Why Host Your Publication with Us

Launch your own professional, cost-effective journal or transfer your journal to our hosting platform.  We will support you at all stages of your publication set-up process as well as the ongoing management and sustainment of your publication.

  • Establish your own Journal, Proceeding or Series in subject areas that are not well covered by commercial publishers
  • Disseminate your research and scholarship through an open access publishing model, reaching the widest possible audience
  • The Library will support you in all aspects of your publication setup, maintenance and promotion, while providing you with control and autonomy over publication workflows and timelines.  See: Our Service Model.
  • Our publishing platform, Open Journal Systems is free to members of the Queen's Community.  It is an easy-to-use, web-based system which requires minimal technical expertise or hosting on your own server.
