To follow this guide, please view the page URLs using your browser's address bar. Some browsers might hide this, but it shows up by default in both Firefox and Chrome.
This guide as a whole uses the friendly URL "friendly-url-guide".
In addition this page, which is titled "Overview", uses the friendly URL "friendly-url-guide/overview". You will see this in effect by clicking on the Overview tab.
Even though the homepage is visible by using the base friendly URL, the homepage should have its own friendly URL in case users navigate to it from another guide page.
We would like to avoid using the randomly generated URLs that LibGuides used by default. (such as http://guides.library.queensu.ca/content.php?pid=669088&sid=5540092 )
In LG1, adding the "root" friendly URL (e.g. "friendly-url-guide") has to be done manually on each page.
In LG2, the root friendly URL is automatically added to each page.
Please note that in Libguides 1, the friendly URL is masked while logged in, even after clicking "preview". A nice trick to check the URLs is to view the guide in a separate browser. In Libguides 2, the friendly URLs are shown while previewing.
