Common Types of Engineering Information Resources

Engineers use many types of information resources. For example, textbooks, handbooks, standards, codes, patents, journals, conference proceedings, professional magazines, and manuals.  

In this section, we will review five common types of engineering information resources:

  • Journals and Conferences
  • Standards and Codes
  • Professional Journals
  • Technical Reports
  • Engineering Handbooks

We'll also discuss peer-reviewed and non-peer reviewed sources.
