SOCY 429: Pandemic Surveillance

A library research guide to support SOCY 429: Pandemic Surveillance

Finding Books

Omni is Queen’s University Library's academic search tool that enables you to search for books, journals, articles, videos and much more, all from one interface. Omni enables you to search different scopes of information collections: locally at Queen's and beyond Queen's University Library with our 15 Ontario university partner libraries (which is the default search scope in Omni).

Use the facets available within Omni to refine your search results to print books or electronic books, for example, or to book chapters.

Resource Type filters in Omni highlighting the books and ebooks filter

Once you have located a book of interest through a title, author or keyword search, if a subject heading(s) describes what you are looking for, click on it to find additional items on your topic or use the subject headings for other words to use in your keyword searches.

Requesting Materials from within Omni

You can now request print monographs from our 15 Omni partner libraries from within Omni, and they will be delivered to Queen’s library for pick-up. Articles and book chapters can also be requested, and they will be delivered to your Queen’s email.

eBook Collections

Most of the library’s electronic books are listed in Omni, but you may also search the ebook packages directly.  Useful collections for sociology include:
