This guide provides information about accessing Geological Survey of Canada publications from the Queen's University Library. Over the years, the GSC publications were collected by different groups and departmental libraries within the Queen's system and, as a result, were described and catalogued differently based on their original locations. In 2015, the library began a project to enhance the descriptions and improve discoverability of these items in the library catalogue.

Print Indexes for GSC Publications and Maps


Annotated catalogue and guide (1845-1917)

The first publication is not just a list, but a highly detailed guide and finding aid to the oldest GSC publications. All publication types, volumes, languages are included, as well as the interior headings, illustrations, diagrams and accompanying maps or atlases.  A digitized version is available from Natural Resources Canada via the GEOSCAN database (be patient, it is slow to load).

  • The GEOSCAN bibliographic database is the current source for locating publications and maps from the Geological Survey of Canada and the Canada Centre for Remote Sensing
