Indigenous Research Methodologies

Noting that "research" on Indigenous Peoples has had a harmful legacy, there has been a movement to work collaboratively with Indigenous communities on research projects. A number of Indigenous-led organizations have done important advocacy work on this front. Some are listed below:

First Nations Information Governance Centre: OCAP®
The OCAP® principlkes "are a set of standards that establish how First Nations data should be collected, protected, used, or shared."

Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami (ITK)
ITK is a national organization that represents Inuit in Canada by documenting how to conduct research in Inuit communities.
