This page provides a summary of Queen’s University Library’s Publication Hosting Service [Terms and Conditions].
Acting as host and online distributor for your publication, the Library will:
- Partner with the Ontario Council of University Libraries and its Scholars Portal technological infrastructure to host and distribute scholarly works via our publishing Platforms: Open Journal Systems (OJS) and Open Monographs Press (OMP), to publish e-journals, conference proceedings, monographs and other scholarly works.
- Make the content hosted on the Platforms available free of charge to the University community and the public via the Internet.
- Support Editorial Teams in the set-up and maintenance of their publication including:
- Project startup and planning
- Policies, guidelines and support for editors, reviewers, copyeditors and authors
- Advice on marketing and distribution.
- Provide support for basic configurations to the publication interface.
- Provide advice and support on the indexing and discoverability of content via search engines like Google and the Directory of Open Access Books.
- Mint Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) for new publications that meet required criterion.
- Advise on researcher and publication discovery mechanisms such as ORCiD. See: Distinguish Yourself with an ORCID iD.
- Advise on copyrights and re-use licensing such as Creative Commons licenses
- Training for new editorial teams on using Open Monographs Press.
The Publisher (represented by the Managing Editor) will:
- Be responsible for any editorial workflows and production of content.
- Grant the Library non-exclusive rights for electronic dissemination of the content, abstracts, tables of content, reference lists, and metadata describing content, via the internet.
- Upload to the Platforms only material that is original or for which you have legal permission and does not violate any copyright.
- Use the Platforms solely for the engagement in and promotion of scholarly activities.
- Adhere to recognized scholarly codes of conduct and ethical practice.
