Monograph Hosting Service

Our Approach

At Queen's University Library, we believe in supporting fair, open and sustainable publishing models that enable timely dissemination of scholarship at reasonable costs.

Our Monograph Hosting Service provides an efficient publication facility for Queen’s faculty and researchers who are members of a research group at Queen's or global community of practice, and wish to publish high-quality monographs recruiting respected peer reviewers and authors from around the globe.

The Library will act as 'online distributor' for your open monographs, providing support for you and your editorial team in the set-up and ongoing maintenance of your site, hosted on Open  Monographs Press (OMP).

See: Our Service Model.

Why Host Your Monograph Series with Us

  • Access: Disseminate your research and scholarship through an open access, barrier free publishing model, reaching the widest possible audience.
  • Quality: Editorial teams who wish to host and publish a monograph site with us are encouraged to support the membership criteria for Open Access Scholarly Publishers Association (OASPA), ensuring rigorous peer review process, and other quality and prestige criteria.
  • Support: The Library will support you in all aspects of your monograph site set-up, maintenance and promotion, while providing you with control and autonomy over publication workflows and timelines.
  • Emerging research areas: Establish your own monograph series in an emerging area that is not well covered by commercial publishers.
  • Ease and efficiency: Our publishing platform, Open Monograph Press is free to members of the Queen's Community.  It is an easy-to-use, web-based system which requires minimal technical expertise or hosting on your own server.

Our Monograph Series

The Monograph Hosting Service is a pilot initiative between Queen's University Library and The Theory and History of Education International Research Group (THEIRG).

If you are a member of the Queen's community and are part of a research group or wider community of practice, consider collaborating with your peers to publish your own monograph series in a disciplinary or interdisciplinary area. See: For Editorial Teams.

Please contact an Open Scholarship Services specialist at open.scholarship.services@queensu.ca to discuss your new monograph site.
