Locating Tribunal Decisions and Labour Arbitration Awards

The easiest way to locate a tribunal decision or labour arbitration award in CanLII, Lexis, or Westlaw, is to start typing its name or citation into the database's general search box. All three databases will suggest close matches.

If you don't find the decision or award using this method, you will need to do some investigation about whether the database contains the decision or award.

CanLII
1. From the landing page, choose the jurisdiction of your tribunal decision or arbitral award.
2. It will display all tribunals or reporter series from that jurisdiction and the dates of coverage.
3. Click on the individual tribunal or reporter series and search it directly.
Westlaw
1. Under "All Content", click on "Board and Tribunal Decisions".
2. Click on the jurisdiction of the tribunal to get a listing of all included tribunals and labour arbitration reporters.

LabourSource on Westlaw Edge Canada
When you search Westlaw Edge Canada from the main page, it will also search what is in LabourSource, an add-on subscription. However, sometimes it is easier to search LabourSource directly. You can find Labour Source by going to "My Subscriptions" along the top of the page and selecting "Labour Source."

Lexis
1. Under "Explore Content", click on "Tribunal Decisions".
2. Click on "All Labour Relation Board Decisions" or "All Labour Arbitration Awards" to go to those subsets.
3. Alternatively, click on a jurisdiction to find all included tribunals. To find out more about any subset (such as years of coverage), click on the "i" beside its listing.
