Books and Ebooks

Use Omni to identify and locate books and ebooks (as well as videos, audio, newspapers, magazines, journals, etc) at Queen's Library.  Use the subject headings to locate additional material. 

Boolean Keyword Search examples:

  • citizenship AND surveillance
  • surveillance AND “social control”
  • surveillance AND (resistance OR protest)
  • surveillance AND "social movements"
  • surveillance AND (police OR government OR state)
  • biometric? AND identification AND (privacy OR surveillance)

Once you have located a book of interest through a title, author or keyword search, if a subject heading(s) describes what you are looking for, click on it to find additional items on your topic or use the subject headings for other words to use in your keyword searches.

Please note that when searching ebook collections directly you may encounter titles in the collection to which Queen’s does not have access. You may request print books and articles not owned by Queen’s Library through Interlibrary Loan.

Omni

Omni, the library's discovery search tool, searches through collections of books and e-books, scholarly journals, newspaper articles, theses and dissertations, conference proceedings, and numerous academic databases.

When searching Omni for books, use the facets located on the search results screen, to limit your search results to books/ebooks.
