Accessibility

This LibGuide provides information on how to create LibGuides that are accessible to all. Use this guide to create LibGuides that meet required accessibility standards under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).

The Integrated Accessibility Standard section of the AODA specifies that organizations make their Internet websites and web content conform with the World Wide Web Consortium Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0. WCAG 2.0 is an internationally accepted standard for web accessibility. It sets out guidelines for organizations to make their websites more accessible.

  • As of January 1, 2014 all new web content must conform with WCAG 2.0 Level A.
  • By January 1, 2021, all Internet websites and web content must conform with WCAG 2.0, Level AA, Captions (Live), and success criteria 1.2.5 Audio Descriptions (Pre-recorded).

For more detailed information on web accessibility access the Resources & Accessibility Testing Tools Tab.
