Evaluating Research Impact Using Altmetrics

For Publishers and Editors

Publishers or editors may use altmetrics to:

  • Demonstrate the reach, engagement and influence of articles published in their journal or publication in order to encourage new  author submissions.
  • Glean insights from attention metrics to inform editorial decisions about future themes or topics or scope of the publication.
  • Identify general trends that the public or other non-academic audiences such as policy makers may be interested in and which could be topical areas in future publications.
