Distinguish Yourself with an ORCID iD

ORCID & Author Profile Tools

There are a range of Author Profile Systems / Academic social networking tools available such as Academia.edu, ResearchGate, Web of Science Publons (formerly ResearcherID, provided by Clarivate Analytics to track and verify their peer review and editorial contributions for academic journals) and Google Scholar profiles

The core function of these system may vary e.g. author disambiguation, open access, reference management or search engine discovery. Their business model may be strictly non-profit (e.g. ORCiD) or tied to a commercial company ( e.g. ResearcherID provided by Clarivate Analytics or Scopus iD provided by Elsevier).

Avoid duplicate data entry

To avoid unnecessary duplicate data entry and maintenance of multiple sites containing information about your academic accomplishments, maintain your ORCID record and link it to existing author profile accounts you may have created.

The following author identifiers are added when you connect to systems using ORCIDs Search and Link wizards from your personal ORCID record:

  • ISNI

  • Web of Science Publons (formerly ResearcherID)

  • Scopus Author ID
