An ORCID iD is a unique, persistent code (e.g. 0000-0001-2345-6789) assigned to an individual researcher. It helps to distinguish you from every other researcher and ensures work is correctly attributed - this includes publications, grants, data sets, and all research inputs, employment, education, funding and scholarly works.
You maintain control of your ORCiD record and what is visible and can set the privacy settings for any item linked to your ORCID iD to be visible to only you, trusted parties, or everyone.
