Publishers and Distributors

See the comprehensive list of Aboriginal Publishers from the University of Toronto and examples of works from Indigenous-focused presses.

Kegedonce: One of three Indigenous publishers in Canada located on Neyaashiinigmiing Reserve in Ontario. Established in 1993,  their focus is on Indigenous writers nationally and internationally.

Pemmican Publications: Promotes Métis authors, illustrators, and stories.

Saskatchewan Indian Cultural Centre: Provides language and culture materials including Cree, Dene, and Saulteaux.

Strong Nations: Canadian Indigenous publisher and store owned by the Nanaimo Aboriginal Centre.

Theytus Books: Publishes works by Indigenous authors, illustrators, and artists. Provides author list.

Key Resource

GoodMinds is a local book store/ distributor in Brantford Ontario from which the library purchases many titles. Search their catalogue or browse topical lists. See their 2024 new title list. They support the Indigenous Education Press (IEP), a First Nations owned publishing company located on the Six Nations of the Grand River Territory. IEP publishes stories by well-known and new Indigenous Authors. All stories are brought to life through Indigenous Illustrators, Designers and Artists.
