Library Resources for Remote Instruction

Queen's Library offers support for the transition to remote instruction including suggestions for open educational resources, streamed video, e-book orders, copyright, and accessibility guidelines.

Ordering Online Materials

  • Collection development is continuing but we are ordering electronic books only.  Please send your recommendations directly to your Subject Librarian. Titles that are not available electronically will be ordered in print when we are able to resume print ordering.
  • If there are print materials in our existing collections that you need for teaching or research we will order an electronic copy, if one is available and it is feasible within budgetary constraints. Please contact your Subject Librarian.
  • Subject Librarians are tracking vendor offers of expanded resource access. For example, The Internet Archive has opened up a National Emergency Library for unlimited access until June 30. When you request an online resource, they will check the changing options for electronic access to specific titles.

Ares eReserves

All library eReserves remain available via OnQ and Ares. However, library print reserves are not available as our facilities are closed.

Please email library.reserves@queensu.ca to discuss changes to print reserves and options for accessing materials online. Students are encouraged to check with their professors with questions about revised course readings.

Note: both electronic and existing physical materials will continue to be listed in Ares, but the physical materials are not available while library facilities are closed.
