Queen's Library offers support for the transition to remote instruction including suggestions for open educational resources, streamed video, e-book orders, copyright, and accessibility guidelines.

Locate Streamed Video in Omni

You can search for streamed video in Omni by combining a keyword search and limiting to Videos as Resource Type and Available online as Availability format. Follow these steps:

  • Search Omni: culture AND (globalization OR globalisation)
  • Limit to Videos as Resource Type. 
  • Limit to Available online. 35 online videos are retrieved with this search.

You can also direct students to a specific streamed video or segment within the following library subscriptions. Please view the complete list of all 20 video collections for other subject areas.

Curio
CBC and Radio-Canada. Documentaries, radio, news, archival material, BBC, National Geographic. News in Review analyses key stories each month back to 1990. These are accompanied by Teacher Guides that complement the news footage with teaching ideas and discussion questions.  

National Film Board
 Over 1000 films are free. Queen’s Library also has public performance rights to an additional 500 films.

Films on Demand
Producers include Films for the Humanities & SciencesBBCPBSTEDCBC TelevisionNFBCambridge Educational, and The Open University. Browse by subject, special collections, related titles, and subject tag clouds.

Criterion on Demand
Producers include 20th Century Fox, Paramount Pictures, DreamWorks, Mongrel Media, Sony Pictures, Alliance Films, Miramax Films, Warner Brothers, Lionsgate Films. Offers classics, new releases, foreign films, literary adaptations, documentaries, animated titles, and independent features.
