Certificate in Law: Intro to Basic Legal Concepts

This guide was designed for students in the Queen's Certificate in Law program.

Introduction

This guide was designed for students in the Queen's Certificate in Law program. It will be especially helpful to students who have enrolled in a certificate course without first taking Law 201/701: Introduction to Canadian Law.

Each page provides a brief summary of a concept that is key to understanding the Canadian legal system. This information is intended to serve only as a starting point and should not be considered a comprehensive overview of any given topic.

More detailed information can be found in resources listed under "Further Reading". More general resources are listed in a separate page at the end of the guide, and topic-specific resources are listed at the bottom of each page.
