LibGuides 2 Training at QUL

This is a Guide to the use of LibGuides at Queen's University. It is 'in progress' at the moment and will continue to be built upon by the LibGuides Implementation Group.

Cutting & Pasting Content

As we work to migrate all the guide content into LibGuides, cutting and pasting content from other places such as current Drupal 5 guides, pages, PDFs, and Word documents is going to be a good way to migrate this content. Thankfully, LibGuides 2 offer us a couple of very nice options for this in it's WYSIWYG editor.

Paste as Plain Text

This is a great option for content that is simply text. The paste as plain text will remove formatting we don't want to migrate (such as fonts). The icon looks like a little clipboard with a capital T on it.

Paste from Word

Despite the name, this is useful for pasting content as mostly plain text, but will keep links, heading levels, and some other basic structure to the content. This is useful when the source content is already in pretty good shape. The icon looks like a little clipboard with a capital W on it.

Remove Format

This is useful when some formatting migrated over that you want to get rid of; simply highlight the area with the malicious formatting and click the icon - it looks like a capital T with a lower-case x beside it.
